Retired UK soccer legend ‘worshipped’ in new cryptocurrency craze

by Glasgow Report
in Press Release

In another strange twist in the world of cryptocurrency now worth trillions of dollars, a UK soccer legend has found himself at the center of a new type of crypto game called ‘Fotball’.

Matthew Le Tisser, now retired professional footballer formerly of Southampton F.C. in the south of England, is being ‘worshipped’ by an obscure group of crypto coders. They are soon to publicly release for public release a non-fungible token, or NFT, on his birthday on 14 October.

A bizarre video on the website fotballnft.com describes a world destroyed by climate change and only a single video of Matthew Le Tissier scoring goals in the 1990s remained. Because of this, says the video voiced by a robotic version of Sir David Attenborough, Matthew Le Tissier became a god.

The NFT is releasing thousands of tokens featuring imaginary players and shared ownership of ‘fotball’ clubs. The aim is to raise funds to kickstart an online soccer game like the popular online game ‘Blaseball’ here in the US.

NFTs are unique digital assets that are stored on a blockchain, a decentralised ledger of transactions, the same technology used to buy and sell cryptocurrencies. NFTs can be used to record ownership of just about anything: digital art, music, films, games and pornography. Once the files are uploaded and verified by a third party, they acquire a rarefied status, in much the same way as a hard-to-find stamp or unique piece of couture.

“Matt Le Tissier was always known as Le God in England, we are merely continuing the worship in the way that we know best,” said an insider ‘Letissiay1’.

25 per cent of the Ethereum raised, said the developers, will be sent to Matthew Le Tissier “as a gesture of our eternal thanks for his presence.”

From 14 October, the public will be able to follow updates and join creators on Twitter and a Discord channel to gain a chance to get a token through what’s known as a whitelist.

NFTs are currently in hot demand and this eccentric campaign looks set to do well in the market.
