Ta’heel”… A Saudi Humanitarian Story of Boundless Giving and Regional Leadership

by Amina
in Press Release

In the heart of Unaizah, Saudi Arabia, where noble values flourish and humanitarian dreams grow, Onaizah Association for Development and Human Services (Ta’heel) continues to write an inspiring story of unlimited giving. No longer just a charity, it has evolved into a comprehensive humanitarian city that sets new standards of leadership in disability services across the Arab world.

Recently, the association added another milestone to its rich record by winning the Prince Mohammad bin Fahd Award for Best Arab Charity Performance in the large organizations category, cementing its position as a model in human service and sustainable development.

Taheel’s journey of excellence dates back to 2012 when it received ISO certification in administrative quality, followed by prestigious local and regional awards, including the King Khalid Award for Excellence, the Prince Faisal bin Bandar Saudization Award, and the Princess Seetah bint Abdulaziz Award. It has also earned global accreditations in occupational health and safety, complaints management, and social responsibility, making its name synonymous with trusted leadership in this field.

Today, the association raises its ambitions to rank among the world’s top ten disability-specialized institutions by 2028, striving to achieve this through its strategic project, “Taheel Humanitarian City,” the largest of its kind in the Middle East, spanning over 450,000 square meters and housing 19 integrated humanitarian projects.

These projects are led by pioneering institutions such as the Ali Al-Jifali Complex for Care and Rehabilitation, Qudrat Model Schools for Special Education, the Mohammed Al-Saadi Center for Childhood and Early Intervention, the Ali Al-Tamimi Autism Center, the Al-Khuneiniyah Center for Vocational and Social Empowerment, the Othman Al-Khuwaiter Centers for Vocational Rehabilitation for Young Men and Women, and the Down Syndrome Center. In addition, there are specialized communication networks such as the Abdullah, Suleiman, and Mohammed Al-Ali Al-Zamil Center, which provides comprehensive audiology and speech services, as well as the Taheel Physical Therapy Center, the Qudrat Support Services Center, Internal housing and the Ajfan Rehabilitation Center.

The Secretary-General of the Ta’heel Association, Mr. Fahd bin Ali Al-Wahaibi, said, “The association’s unique feature is that it is the only one in the Middle East that serves people with disabilities from birth until the discovery of their disability. We also work with their families to train and assist them in properly interacting with their family member with a disability. We remain with the beneficiaries from that stage until they are employed and fully integrated into society”.

Recently, the association has launched new pioneering projects. His Royal Highness Prince Dr. Faisal bin Mishaal, Governor of Al-Qassim Region, laid the foundation stone for the new General Administration Building and the Othman Al-Khuwaiter Center for Research and Studies, reflecting its strategic vision towards knowledge innovation and continuous development.

Furthermore, the association continues to operate the Social Rehabilitation Project for Persons with Disabilities in AlUla Governorate in cooperation with the Royal Commission, providing home healthcare services and running rehabilitation projects in villages and remote areas – a testament to Taheel’s commitment to its humanitarian and national mission.

During his recent visit, His Excellency Minister of Human Resources and Social Development, Eng. Ahmed bin Sulaiman Al-Rajhi, praised the association’s exceptional efforts and tangible impact in empowering people with disabilities. He emphasized the importance of replicating the “Taheel Humanitarian City” model across the Kingdom, as it offers an inspiring example of sustainable development aligned with Vision 2030 goals for human empowerment.

It is noteworthy that, thanks to its professional management and a dedicated team of 700 employees and 500 volunteers, the association has provided services to more than 102,929 beneficiaries over the past ten years, from birth to social and vocational empowerment, under its noble motto: “We care to empower them… We empower them to bring happiness.”

This is a Saudi story of endless giving, the story of “Taheel,” born to remain a symbol of boundless compassion and sustainable humanitarian leadership.
