DJ Ewen Cameron slams Scotland kit and offers train comparison

by Glasgow Report

SCOTS radio DJ Ewen Cameron has slammed the new Scotland kit as “minging” ahead of Euro 2024 in Germany, comparing it to ScotRail’s seat covers.

The 51-year-old was left unimpressed by the big reveal from the Scotland national team and Adidas last week.

Scotland revealed the kit with a video of Scott McTominay ripping the old shirt off before unveiling the new shirt underneath.

Many Scotland supporters were fans of the old shirt with some feeling that the 150th anniversary kit should have been used at the Euros.

The post shows McTominay strip away the old kit – which was blue with purple accents and a tartan cuff on the sleeve.

In the old shirt’s place, the Manchester United midfielder stands with a varied tartan pattern on a kit which has yellow accents.

Manufacturer Adidas describes the kit as “a home jersey displaying a modern take on classic tartan, tartan takes centre stage on this eye-catching adidas Scotland home jersey.”

The German company adds that the shirt has bold graphics which wrap around the front and back while a team crest and stylised national flag further pump up the pride.

The faint tartan on the front of the top does resemble ScotRail seating which uses saltires and tartan on the nation’s train seats.

However, Ewen Cameron lamented the old kit and labelled its successor “minging” for showing what it was replacing.

The Greatest Hits Radio DJ took to social media last week writing: “This just makes the new Scotland strip look even more minging by showing what it’s replacing.

“[What the f**k] were you thinking Scottish FA, Scotland NT, Adidas because the only ones liking this design are ScotRail as it matches their seat covers.”

His post received dozens of likes and comments from social media users who were quick to offer their views on the new Scotland kit.

One said: “Need to have V-necks, maybe the plan is to beat teams while they laugh at our strip?”

Another added: “No imagination and it’s all templates by Adidas and the likes.”

A third replied: “Don’t buy it, it’s the only way they will learn.”

Another commented: “Take the yellow out of it would have been better, but they still could have made a right good one for the Euros.”

Scotland will take on hosts Germany, Hungary and Switzerland in Group A of the European Championships, hoping to progress from the group stage for the first time ever.
