Wolves fans slammed after lighting pyro in pub closing business

by Glasgow Report
in Sports

WOLVES fans have been slammed after setting off pyrotechnics inside a Birmingham bar which was forced to close for the day, potentially costing the business thousands.

The supporters headed to the West Midlands city ahead of their derby game against Aston Villa over the weekend before the disruptive act.

The pub in question, believed to be The Head of Steam on Temple Street, Birmingham was left with little choice but to shut to patrons after the Wolves fans set off flares leaving the building covered in thick fog.

The smoky aftermath of the flare
The pub was mired in a misty fog after the visiting fans let the pyrotechnic off.

The fans would see their team defeated 2-0 at Villa Park later in the evening with the kick-off time being slammed by those in the pub.

An image shows the pub empty with several rows of plush, leather seating empty and half-drunk pints sitting on the tables.

A television screen in the background can be seen showing Gillette Soccer Saturday whilst another is covered with more smoke and harder to view.

One of the bar staff can barely be made out through the thick fog which can be seen hanging in the air of the pub, covering the black and white chequered floor behind the staff member.

A patron of the bar named Neil shared the photo to social media over the weekend with the caption: “Congratulations to Wolves fans today on setting off a flare inside a city centre pub.

“2pm and costing the business thousands of pounds, enjoy your loss you f***ing six-fingered f***wits.

“[I] love that this hasn’t made the news at all either, fanbase is perfect, isn’t it?”

His post received over 2,400 likes with hundreds of comments from other football fans who were quick to condemn the actions of the Wolves faithful.

One said: “Nothing annoyed me more [than] when [Gary] O’Neil said their fans behaved perfectly at ours, threw two flares into home end for f**k’s sake.”

Another added: “They do have the absolute worst fans in West Midlands by miles, give it a few years when the money’s gone and they’ll be back where they spent most of their time in lower leagues.”

A third replied: “Hopefully it won’t cost them that much in the end as if I was them, I would be suing them for the losses.

“It would be an easy thing to go back and get an average revenue number for two hours prior to the game and costs associated with the cleanup.”

Aston Villa defeated Wolves 2-0 with goals coming from Moussa Diaby and Ezri Konsa at Villa Park.

The decision to have the game kick off at 5:30pm was questioned by locals who felt the fixture should have taken place as the lunch time game instead of Newcastle vs West Ham.
