First pictures show plush new A350 Emirates plane set to fly between Dubai and Edinburgh in the new year

EMIRATES has announced that its new A350 plane will take its first flight from Dubai to Edinburgh on 3 January 2025.

The A350 is the newest aircraft in the Emirates fleet, and as of now will be travelling to eight other destinations across the globe.

The interior of the plane was revealed yesterday, and pictures show the luxurious features of each of the three spacious cabin classes.

The company, which is one of the flagship airlines for the United Arab Emirates (UAE), is known for its swanky first-class lounges, allowing travellers a premium experience on the long and medium-haul flights that they specialise in.

Shown in the picture are leather ‘S Lounge seats’, inspired by the Mercedes S Class, while the engine has been manufactured in collaboration with Rolls-Royce.

Some of the features on the new aircraft include extra high ceilings, wide aisles, high-speed Wi-Fi, and 4K cinematic inflight entertainment that includes live television.

In business class, passengers can utilise multiple sockets and charging ports, a minibar, improved storage and inflight shopping.

Whilst aeroplane food is often avoided by most, Emirates offers an abundance of multi award-winning meals and prides itself on the “world’s best beverage selection in the sky”.

They are said to be providing “regionally inspired” meals on all their A350 flights, so Edinburgh passengers might expect salmon or fresh haggis.

Economy and premium economy classes are available for those travelling on a tighter budget, and offer galley areas for snacks on long-haul flights, but forgo many extras such as ‘lie-flat’ seats and added legroom.

The plane was set to enter service in September this year, but its maiden voyage will instead take place on 3 January, as it travels the eight hours from Dubai International Airport to Edinburgh Airport.

The plane will also service Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Kuwait, Bahrain, Colombo, Lyon, Muscat and Bologna.

Sir Tim Clarke, president of Emirates Airline, was joined by the UAE Minister of Economy at the unveiling of the first Airbus A350-900, wherein guests were able to take a tour of the aircraft.
