Murrayfield toilet facilities rated worst in the Six Nations, according to a recent study

by Glasgow Report
in Sports

MURRAYFIELD stadium reportedly has the worst toilet facilities out of any stadium in the Six Nations.

According to a study by BoyleSports, the stadium receives “recurring complaints about its toilet facilities”.

This study comes just weeks before the Six Nations is set to start, with the tournament beginning on the first weekend of February.

Following closely behind is England’s Twickenham stadium where the lack of toilets has been described as “awful”.

The report concluded: “Murrayfield’s electric atmosphere is somewhat overshadowed by recurring complaints about its toilet facilities.

“With 125 negative mentions, the most of every stadium despite having the lowest number of combined reviews, toilet issues play a big role in the 10.79% of overall complaints launched at the ground.”

Scottish Gas Murrayfield, opened in 1925, is Scotland’s biggest stadium and one of the oldest in the Six Nations with their last completed renovations carried out in the 1990s.

Tripadvisor reviews for the stadium, whilst praising other aspects of the venue, often raised issues with the toilets inside – particularly the ladies.

One review said: “Cracking stadium. Cracking atmosphere. You need to sort the toilets.

“They are disgusting, don’t even mind standing in the queue. But they never flush and there is no water available to wash your hands.”

Another talked of the “chronic lack of female toilets”, sharing a picture of a lengthy queue for the ladies that even bends round a corner.

The review reads: “Great food and atmosphere but shocking lack of female toilets.

“More and more women are watching the game and yet we had to queue at least 30 people long for the few women’s toilets.

“The photo below shows less than half the queue going round the corner. Most women simply have to choose which bit of the game to miss.”

A third wrote: “The toilet situation, to be honest, was the only let down of the night – mass confusion amongst who was queuing for where and in the end both male/female ended up sharing.”

And a fourth reflected: “I love going to this stadium, there is always a great atmosphere, but I wish they’d improve ladies toilet facilities”.

A spokesperson for Scottish Rugby said today: “Murrayfield is home to Scotland’s largest stadium, which has an unrivalled atmosphere both during matches and in the West Fan Village.

“We are aware that the stadium needs investment, and we are allocating funding to improve parts of the stadium in a rolling programme that is already underway.

“We have also tasked consultants to come up with long-term solutions for some key areas of the stadium.”
