THE Charlotte Chapel football club has been forced to resign from the Edinburgh Churches Football Association (ECFA) league, forfeiting its future games to opponents.
The ECFA is a “church led, Christian league that offers competitive football played in a manner that reflects Christian values”.
Other teams in the league include Hope Church FC from Leith, and Carrubers FC from Carrubbers Church on the Royal Mile.
It is not known why Charlotte Chapel was forced to resign, as the news was shared yesterday by the ECFA on social media.

The ECFA, who believe “how we play is just as important as the result”, is currently hosting games for its 2024/25 league, of which St Mary’s Metropolitan FC sits at the top.
They posted to social media yesterday, saying: “It’s with a heavy heart that the league has accepted the resignation of one of our longest serving clubs, Charlotte Chapel.
“The league will follow the same process as last season and all remaining games will be forfeited and a 3-0 result awarded to the opposition.”
The club is connected to Charlotte Chapel, an evangelical Baptist church located on Shandwick Place who state their vision is “to see lives transformed through Jesus to the glory of God”.
The team lost their last game 3-0 to St Mary’s Metropolitan FC on Saturday, following a heavy defeat last month against Hope Church FC which ended 10-0.
Charlotte Chapel FC were 12th in the league, with 13 points overall, a far cry from St Mary’s 41 – but neck and neck with rivals Carrubers FC.
Charlotte Chapel has been contacted for comment.
