THE owner of a wellness brand has decided to combat loneliness in the city by starting a Sunday walking group.
Edinburgh Sunday Strolls Club is set to launch later this month, and will bring people together for a short walk and chat.
Jessica Longstaff, who came up with the idea, says that she wants people “to feel a little less lonely”.
The social event, which will make the most of the upcoming warm weather in the Scottish capital, is completely free to attend.

Jessica is also the founder of Box Love, which creates customisable gift boxes for special occasions or moments of self-care.
The boxes, with themes such as “a wee hug”, “pamper box”, “wellness meditation”, and “cosy night in” contain items like face masks, chocolate, bath salts, and candles.
Box Love ships across the country and has worked with companies such as NASA, Amazon, Scottish Water and the University of Edinburgh to create corporate boxes for staff members.
Now, Jessica is setting her sights on a community group, set up in order to tackle the issue of loneliness in the city.
She shared on social media earlier this week: “Loneliness – sadly, it’s something many of us are feeling more often these days.
“I want people to feel a little less lonely. That’s why I’ve created Edinburgh Sunday Strolls Club through my small biz (sic), BoxLove – a way to bring people together.
“Join us on Sunday 20 July at 10am. Meeting point: The Compass, Middle Meadow Walk (Edinburgh).
“Whether you’re after a light stroll, a nice chat, or just some fresh air and friendly faces to start your Sunday. We’d love to see you there.
“The walk will last around an hour, with the option to grab a coffee and pastry afterwards (from somewhere local of course).
“Bring a friend, your dog, or just come solo, everyone’s welcome. Spaces are limited, so you’ll need to sign up via the link below.

The club is not the only one of its kind in the city, with the Lonely Girls Walk Club having its own Edinburgh branch, as well as clubs in Birmingham, Brighton, London, Manchester, and Nottingham.
