Global property consultancy firm relocates Edinburgh offices

by Glasgow Report
in Real Estate

ONE OF the world’s largest independent property consultancies has relocated its Edinburgh team to one of the Scottish capital’s most sustainable office buildings.

Knight Frank, founded in London in 1896, operates more than 700 offices across 50 countries and employs over 25,000 people.

The firm’s Scottish commercial property operations span Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen, covering capital markets, office agency, valuations and building consultancy.

The consultancy has taken ground-floor space at 30 Semple Street in Edinburgh, moving from 2 Castle Terrace where it had been based for a decade.

The Semple Street development holds a string of green credentials, becoming the first building in Scotland to achieve BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ certification, Nabers 5-star accreditation and a platinum Airscore rating.

It has also been rated EPC ‘A’, designed to operate within the UK Green Building Council’s net zero carbon framework, and received a platinum Activescore for active travel provision.

The building was recently named best commercial workplace in Scotland at the British Council for Offices Awards.

Alasdair Steele, head of Scotland commercial at Knight Frank, said: “Scotland is a key market for us as a firm, and the central belt is the nation’s economic powerhouse.

“Taking space at one of Edinburgh’s top buildings from a quality and ESG perspective reflects not only our continued commitment to the city and our clients who operate within it, but also provides our people with a great space to work in.”

He added: “An office move always feels like a new chapter for a business. With a strong team, a great new space, and a cautious optimism returning to the market, we have the foundations in place to grow our market share across key service lines, and look to new opportunities as well in the years ahead.”

The Edinburgh move follows Knight Frank’s recent relocation of its Aberdeen team to Albyn Place.
