Alumni Compliance Launches New Support Services for Letting Agents and Property Managers to Meet UK Financial Sanctions Obligations

by Amina
in Press Release

London, UK – 9 April 2025 – Alumni Compliance, a leading FCA and AML consultancy, has launched a new specialist service designed to help letting agents and property management companies across the UK meet their obligations under updated UK financial sanctions regulations.

Following new government guidance, letting agents and property managers who handle rental properties must now take active steps to comply with the UK’s financial sanctions regime from 14 May 2025. Agents are required to conduct due diligence to ensure that tenants, landlords, and third parties involved in rental agreements are not subject to UK sanctions. Non-compliance could result in substantial fines, regulatory enforcement, and reputational damage.

To address these requirements, Alumni Compliance has expanded its compliance support services to help letting agents navigate financial sanctions obligations with confidence. Services include sanctions screening guidance, development of financial sanctions policies, tailored staff training, and ongoing compliance monitoring support.

“Letting agents and property managers are now on the front line of financial sanctions compliance,” said a spokesperson for Alumni Compliance. “Our new support service helps property businesses understand their duties, implement effective systems and controls, and protect their firms from serious regulatory risk.”

The UK government, through the Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation (OFSI), expects letting agents to have appropriate procedures in place to identify and manage financial sanctions risks, especially where rents exceed €10,000 per month. Alumni Compliance’s new service ensures that letting agents meet these obligations efficiently and remain fully compliant with HM Treasury’s evolving sanctions framework.

Letting agents and property management companies seeking to strengthen their financial sanctions compliance can visit the Alumni Compliance website or contact the consultancy directly for a confidential consultation.
