Glasgow brokerage backing “Tartan Trek” with World Cup ticket prize draw

by Glasgow Report
in Sports

A GLASGOW-BASED insurance brokerage is calling on the public to get behind an extraordinary Scottish fundraising effort by launching a prize draw to win two tickets to a Scotland World Cup clash in Boston, all in support of mental health.

Octo Insurance Brokers has donated two tickets to Scotland vs Morocco at the FIFA World Cup 2026, with all proceeds from the prize draw going to SAMH (Scottish Action for Mental Health), Scotland’s leading mental health charity.

Supporters can enter SAMH’s prize draw online here for just £20 per entry, with all proceeds going towards Craig Ferguson’s Tartan Trek fundraising total.

The initiative supports Paisley local, Craig Ferguson, and his remarkable Tartan Trek, a 3,000-mile walk across the United States with the aim of raising £1m for SAMH.

Starting in Los Angeles in February and finishing in Boston in time for Scotland’s opening World Cup match in June, the challenge is one of the most ambitious endurance fundraising efforts ever undertaken by a Scot.

The insurance brokerage has also gifted Craig and his best friend Matt Allan, who is driving Craig’s support vehicle, two tickets to Scotland’s opening World Cup match against Haiti.

Craig said: “This challenge is about much more than walking from coast to coast. It’s about opening the conversation around mental health and showing people they’re not alone.

“The support I’ve had so far has been incredible, and initiatives like this prize draw can make a real difference in helping us reach that £1m goal for SAMH.

“To have a business like Octo get behind this and give people the chance to go to the World Cup to see Scotland play is amazing.

“As the challenge gets harder and the stakes get higher in the final weeks and days, every entry into the competition will spur me on that bit more.”

Domenico Davis, director at Octo Insurance Brokers, said: “What Craig is taking on with his Tartan Trek is incredible, both physically and mentally, and the cause behind it is something that affects every community across Scotland.

“By donating these tickets, we wanted to create something that would capture people’s attention and encourage them to get involved.

“It’s not every day you get the chance to see Scotland at the World Cup, and if that can help raise vital funds for SAMH, then it’s a win-win.”

Funds raised through the Tartan Trek will support SAMH’s 70 services throughout Scotland, which provide practical, emotional and social support to tens of thousands of people experiencing mental health challenges each year.

This includes rolling out its national network of Nooks – welcoming, walk-in, barrier-free mental health and wellbeing hubs that are bringing support directly into the heart of communities.

Hazel McIlwraith, director of fundraising and major appeal at SAMH, said: “Craig’s Tartan Trek is an extraordinary challenge that captures the spirit of determination and compassion at the heart of what we do.

“The funds raised will directly support people across Scotland who are experiencing mental health challenges, ensuring they can access essential support when and where they need it.

“We’re incredibly grateful to Octo Insurance Brokers for their generous donation and for helping to create such an exciting way for people to get involved and support this vital cause.”

Entries for the prize draw are now open and will close on Thursday 28 May 2026. Each entry is priced at £20, and all proceeds go directly towards Craig Ferguson’s Tartan Trek fundraising total for SAMH.
