Crieff Hydro launches Padel Barn with three indoor courts

AN INDOOR padel facility has opened at a Perthshire resort, giving residents and visitors three courts to use whatever the weather.

Crieff Hydro’s Padel Barn features three purpose-built indoor courts and is open daily from 7am to 10pm, with hotel guests, Country Club members, residents and day visitors all able to book sessions.

The courts can accommodate up to four players, with sessions available for 60 or 90 minutes.

Richard Leckie, associate director at Crieff Hydro, said the facility had been designed to make the sport accessible to people of different abilities.

He said: “Padel is such a fun and sociable sport and one of the great things about it is how accessible it is. You don’t need to be an experienced player to pick up a racquet and have a go.”

Sessions can be booked through the Playtomic app, with racquets provided and balls available to buy from a vending machine at the facility.

Padel combines elements of tennis and squash and is usually played in doubles on an enclosed court, with the surrounding walls forming part of the game.

Court hire costs £40 per hour for Country Club members and £50 per hour for hotel guests and non-residents.

The facility adds to Crieff Hydro’s existing sports and leisure offering, which includes a tennis club established in 1913.

Free parking is available on site.
