SCAFFOLDING is to go up around Cowdenbeath Town House as the £2.3m project to bring the historic building back into use reaches its next stage.
The redevelopment will transform the landmark building into a community hub, with a café, office space, meeting and events rooms, a community radio station and space for wedding ceremonies.
Internal strip-out work has now been completed, with timber beams repaired and electrical work underway.
Over the coming weeks, passers-by will begin to see more visible changes as external works get started and scaffolding surrounds the building.
Inside, the next phase will include plastering, decorating, joinery, mechanical works and the creation of a new attic floor.
Councillor Altany Craik, Fife Council’s spokesperson for finance, economy and strategic planning, said: “It’s fantastic to see real progress at Cowdenbeath Town House.
“This building means a great deal to local people, and it’s exciting to see it being brought back into use.
“Step by step, we’re creating a space that will be welcoming, inclusive and full of opportunities for the community. We’re looking forward to seeing it take shape over the coming months.”
Once complete, the Town House will be run by BRAG Enterprises.

The project is being funded by £1.1m from the Regeneration Capital Grant Fund, £1.1m from the Place Based Investment Fund, £126,966 from Fife Council’s Capital Fund and £35,000 from Cowdenbeath Area Committee.
