A REPORT has found that community use of sport and leisure facilities has reached a record high, surpassing figures before the pandemic.
Fife Council have announced that the use of facilities in the city have risen by 85% in five years.
356,029 residents used the community facilities in the 2025/26 term compared to 192,392 in 2019/20.
The success is being attributed to the Dunfermline Learning Campus (DLC), a key hub for sport in the area.

Councillor Linda Erskine, spokesperson for communities and leisure, said: “It’s really encouraging to see so many people across Dunfermline making sue of our facilities and getting involved in sport and physical activity.
“These figures show that demand is strong and growing, and that the investment we are making in modern, high-quality facilities like DLC is making a real difference to how people choose to stay active.”
Fife Council hope that the increased figures provide support for their future of leisure programme, which aims to provide modern and sustainable facilities.
Councillor Erskine added: “We know how important access to sport and leisure is for health and wellbeing, and this demonstrates that we can continue to grow participation while using our buildings more efficiently.
“That’s a key part of our future of leisure approach, ensuring we deliver the best possible opportunities for our communities now and in the future.”
