JOSH Mulligan believes that the Hibs players are capable of getting a result against KAA Gent at Planet Group Arena tonight.
Hibs go into tonight’s game knowing they stand just two games from becoming the first side in the Club’s history to reach the group stage/league stage of European football.
Now Mulligan and his teammates are determined to go one step further than last season, when they pushed Ekstraklasa side Legia Warsaw all the way but were beaten 5-4 on aggregate.
“It would probably be the biggest achievement in my career (getting into the group stage),” said Mulligan at his pre-match press conference in Ghent.
“Obviously it’s never happened in Hibs’ history, so it’s two massive games coming up, and I’m really looking forward to them.
“We got so close last year, and the mood after that [Legia Warsaw defeat] wasn’t great, but we knew the chance would come again pretty much if we had a good season, which we did, and now we’ve got another chance at it, so we’re going to give everything.
“There are a lot of the same players from last year, and there are a few new players as well, and they want to experience that as well.
“I think it’s a good mix of both, having experienced and younger players, and I think we’ve got a real good chance over these next two games.
“The last few days we have looked at them (KAA Gent).
“Obviously, I don’t know that much about them because they’re a Belgian side, but they’ll be a good team with good individual players.
“As a team they’ll be good, but we know what we can do, and we need to focus on ourselves.
“I think it will take a complete performance tomorrow night, and I think it’s something that we’re capable of.”
