ABERDEENSHIRE Council’s landscape services have received an award for their digitalisation programme supporting frontline workers.
The gold striving for excellence award was awarded to the team in recognition of the programme which improves workers’ access to information, tools and support.
The Association for Public Service Excellence (APSE) awards focus on council services across Scotland who excel in the waste & recycling, parks, fleet and grounds & street scene.
Aviemore hosted the 2026 event, where the Aberdeenshire landscape services team won in the parks, grounds and street scene category.

Chair of the council’s infrastructure services committee Councillor Alan Turner said: “This is a fantastic achievement for the team. It recognises the practical steps they’ve taken to help modernise the service, making it easier for our frontline staff to access the information and tools they need to do their jobs effectively.”
He added: “The success of this programme is down to its people-focused approach. It’s about supporting staff in how they actually work, and that delivers clear benefits for both our teams and the communities they serve. I’m delighted to see this work recognised with a gold award.”
The digitalisation programme saw frontline staff given mobile devices which had access to maps, procedures and health and safety information. This was designed to combat the reliance on paper which did not provide immediate access.
“Techy Tuesday” drop-in sessions provided staff with an understanding of how the new technology would work, with an emphasis on making day-to-day work easier.
